Hello & WelcomeI'm looking for high-quality freelance proofreaders to join my team at The Page Doctor. This is the perfect role for someone who enjoys learning new things, works to tight deadlines and has a keen eye for detail. You'll be helping students/professionals across the globe, by unlocking their potential through your expertise.Who am I?My name is Amina, an educator, scientist and YouTuber. I began this business in 2017 after receiving numerous requests for help with report writing, essay structuring and English language editing. In the last 3 years, I have grown this company beyond my expectations. We want to find some more editors to join our dynamic team. What does the service entail? The academic proofreading service that I offer is unmatched by any other company. Other companies only correct written English and charge a premium for editing of flow/structure. I believe that these aspects of writing cannot be separated. I struggle to simply edit spelling without leaving some comments for how to improve. Through this service, I want students to be given the tools to do better next time, a bit like a personal tutor. That's why I only offer one proofreading service. One where work will be checked for English writing but also for the content, providing commentary on how sections of work can be improved. Through this, students are able to increase their grade boundary. Grade boundaries cannot be changed by spell checking alone, and I think it's unfair that a paid service does not offer this enhancement.Who are you?Be a Native English speaker
Be a PhD student or PhD graduate from a UK University
Have an excellent command of written English
Have an excellent understanding of academic language required in essays and reports
Able to meet tight deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Word (particularly track changes)
Able to score highly in a proofreading test
You'd be able to accept work on weekends or evenings
Desirable: I am interested in those with a strong STEM background, with a focus in the biological/physical sciences, as many of our clients submit work from this discipline. I also welcome applications from all other disciplines, as I frequently receive requests from subjects ranging from law to midwifery. How does it work? This job is ideal for those looking to make some income on the side. Some of our top editors that accept regular work make between £1000-3000 a month. The role is extremely flexible. You will be sent a list of work with required deadlines. If you wish to take it on, it's yours. If not, that's fine, you have the flexibility to work as and when you please. It would be ideal if you could commit to taking work a couple of times a week, particularly during peak times of the year.If interested, please complete this Google Form (https://forms.gle/APqnPHvvSJCU2ue49). You'll be required to send your CV for review. The proofreading tests may be sent to you on receipt of your CV if you meet the criteria above. Due to the number of applications, we can only respond to those who have made it to the next stage.
